Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management
The idea of Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management came up during the visit to Dr. Mujumdar's office by the General Manager of Pune Telecom, Mr. Vijay Paranjpe. During the course of the conversation, he mentioned that the field of Telecommunications was soon going to open up & India was certain to see the arrival of international players like AT & T, Ericsson & others. He pointed out that the new economy would be thirsty for competent managers with a technical background & therefore suggested that Symbiosis consider establishing special courses for telecom personnel.On the basis of past experience, Dr. Mujumdar decided to start a 2 year Post Graduate Programme in Telecom Management. Initially it seemed logical to conduct this new programme under the aegis of Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR).
However, Dr. Mujumdar was convinced about the potential of Tele Communication & felt it was wiser to organize the courses under a new institution. This is how Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management (SITM) came into existence. At the time it was established, SITM was the first of its kind in India & first such experiment in Asia.

SITM offers a fine blend of technology and management education to its students that aim at bringing an experiential learning. Being ‘techno-managers', they are embedded with technology and are well-trained in managerial aspects. Backed by positive feedback from the industry appreciating the firm technical plinth that we stand upon, we have always had a good rapport amongst the corporate. Besides, application of management concepts makes SITM a preferred destination for the corporate. The pedagogy at SITM aims to build techno-managers. Industry recognized certifications,workshops, network management, and value-added programs, along with clarity in concepts of finance, IT and marketing logic.As a part of the curriculum, students get to have an empirical experience of the corporate world in the form of summer projects, live industry projects, research projects, and Industry visits. Summer Projects imbibe in them practical insights and provide an edge in the industry and Research Projects that add valuable insights to their technological and managerial know-how. Faculty in charge of placements along with a dedicated team of students have been consistently excelling in steering articulate goals for future improvements for 100% summers as well as final placements. SITM has been consistently achieving nearly 100% final placements throughout its journey.

Summer Placements
Summer Internship is a great interlude between two years of management training. It gives a chance to students to test waters, helping them put into use what they have learned in previous two semesters, and implement that in the corporate scenario. It also prepares them for the challenges and learning process they will be facing in the upcoming second year of management programme/course. Summer recruitment was 100% for the batch 2014 – 16.
